Help & FAQs
Quick answers to the questions people ask most.
Searching for jobs
How do I search?
Type what you're looking for in your own words — for example “night shift warehouse work near Bristol” — or use the filters for sector, location, pay, work arrangement and sponsorship.
Mady shows how it understood your search as a row of filters above the results. If something's wrong, change the words or the filters.
Do I need an account to search?
No. Anyone can search and read jobs. A free account lets you save jobs and searches, get alerts, upload a CV, see personalised match scores and apply to jobs posted on Mady.
How do job alerts work?
Run a search, then choose “Save search”. You can pick daily or weekly emails, or no emails, and change this at any time from your dashboard.
Your CV and profile
Which CV formats can I upload?
PDF, Word (DOCX) and plain text (TXT) files, up to 5 MB each. Scanned images of a CV can't be read reliably, so use a file with selectable text if you can.
What happens when I upload my CV?
Mady reads your CV and creates a draft of your skills, experience and details. You review the draft and choose what to keep — nothing on your profile changes until you accept it.
Who can see my CV?
Only you, until you apply for a job. When you apply, the employer for that job receives the CV you chose. Employers can't browse or search CVs. See our privacy notice.
Match scores
How are match scores worked out?
A match score compares your profile and search with each job, using skills, how relevant your experience is to the role, location, salary, experience level and work arrangement.
Every score comes with reasons, each labelled with its source: the employer, the public sponsor register, your profile, or Mady's interpretation. More about how Mady's AI works.
Does a low score mean I shouldn't apply?
No. Scores are recommendations, not guarantees or judgements. They can only use what's in your profile and the posting — if you know you're a good fit, apply. Keeping your profile up to date makes scores more useful.
Can employers pay to appear higher?
No. There are no paid placements or sponsored results on Mady.
Visa sponsorship
What does “Sponsorship available” mean?
The employer has said in the job posting that they can sponsor a visa for this role. Always confirm with the employer before relying on it.
What does “Licensed sponsor” mean?
The employer appears on the UK Home Office register of licensed sponsors. It means they can sponsor workers — not that a particular role will be sponsored. How sponsorship information works.
Can Mady help with my visa application?
No. Mady does not guarantee sponsorship or immigration outcomes and doesn't give immigration advice. For official information, see work visas on GOV.UK (opens in a new tab).
Applying
How do I apply for a job?
Choose “Apply” on the job page. Most jobs on Mady come from job boards and employers' careers pages, so “Apply” opens the employer's or job board's own website and you apply there. Only jobs posted on Mady by employers can be applied for on Mady: pick a CV, add a short note and answer any questions from the employer. The job page shows which kind it is.
How do I track my applications?
Every application you make on Mady appears under “Applications” in your dashboard, with its current status. Applications made on an employer's or job board's website are tracked there, not on Mady.
Can I withdraw an application?
Yes. Open the application in your dashboard and choose “Withdraw”. The employer will see that you've withdrawn. You can't apply for the same job again after withdrawing.
For employers
How much does it cost to post a job?
Nothing. Posting a job and managing the applicants you receive on Mady is free, with no limit on genuine vacancies.
How do I post a job?
Create a free employer account, then choose “Post a job” from your dashboard. Describe the role, pay, location, skills and whether you can sponsor a visa.
Why can't I publish my job yet?
Jobs can only be published once you've confirmed your email address. Check your inbox for the confirmation email — you can request a new one from your dashboard. You can save drafts in the meantime.
How are applicants ranked?
Mady ranks applicants by how well their profile and CV match your posting, and shows the reasons for each score. Rankings are recommendations — you decide who to shortlist, interview and hire.
Safety and reporting
How do I report a job?
Choose “Report this job” on the job page and tell us what's wrong. Our team reviews every report. You can also contact us.
An employer asked me to pay a fee. What should I do?
Don't pay. Employers on Mady must not charge candidates for applying, training, equipment or sponsorship. Please report the job.
Your account
How do I delete my account?
Job seekers can delete their account at any time from Settings in the dashboard. This permanently deletes your account, profile, CVs and applications. Employers can ask us to close their account through the contact form.
I've forgotten my password.
